a contest and a workshop
Posted by in this & thatI like to do giveaways of my new books. Usually about ten people enter and they are people I know and then I send the book off happily, because I know it will go to a good home.
So, let’s do it again! You can enter to win a copy of Being Sixteen by leaving a comment here on this post, or by becoming a follower of this blog. Do both, and you have two chances! I know. Awesome. (If you are already a follower, you have my undying gratitude, and I will enter you automatically once.) I’m confused. Are you confused? Follow. Comment. That should cover it. I’ll announce the winner on February 16th, so make sure you enter by the 15th. One more thing: this title is LDS fiction. Which means the characters are Mormon and they act like it–they talk about God, their faith, etc.–and the book is sold by a publisher that specializes in LDS fiction and non-fiction. I just want people to know before they enter–I don’t want anyone feeling like they are being preached to, etc., or surprised by the content.
And, I am presenting at the Writing and Illustrating for Young Readers workshop this June. It is awesome. I went last summer and had a lot of fun, especially when I wasn’t nursing my baby in the parking lot. (Was that too much information?)
One last thing. I try to respond to comments on posts after they’ve been up for about a week–so I promise I’m not ignoring if I don’t respond right away.
That is all. Hope you are having a lovely Groundhog Day!

Hey Look, I’m hte first. I hope that I will win. Pick me, pick me. I even am a follower now…(but in a wierd way, I’ve ALWAYS been a follower…muah ha ha ha)
I like free books. I blame Erin. I tried to follow, but was not allowed. I will not take it personally. Thank you.
I’d love to be entered in the contest. I’m already a follower and I’m so glad I’ve found your blog. Thanks for the contest Ally.
I have a confession to make: Tuesdays are exciting because of this blog. Oh, and I follow this blog now, too!
I’ve been following your blog since June, but apparently not officially. Alas, I’m official now. And I read “Yearbook” and enjoyed it. I’d love to hear where your idea for that book came from. Because I’m such an Ally fan, it would be oh so cool if I won. You are an awesome writer and an awesome person.
I’m excited for this book!
I’d really like to read this book! :>
Hi Ally! I’m a follower. Whoop! You are awesome. I’m planning on reading your book, even if I don’t win. =)
Hey girly! I would love to win and I follow…but um, I’m not sure if I’m getting a review copy anyway? If that’s the case then don’t enter me.
I love your blog too! Tuesdays are always such a highlight!
HI, I would love to win your new book. I haven’t bought it yet. Sorry, haven’t found the time. Thanks, Ally
I would love a copy and even if I don’t win I promise that I’m going to read it anyway – that is if I ever find time again to read. My reading list is growing exponentially and my time is shrinking accordingly. Sigh…
Me, Me! Pick me! Hopefully I’ll see you in June:)
Can I enter even if I plan to buy the book anyway because I like to support you that way? Probably my favorite thing in the world is receiving a book in the mail from Ally Condie. And, I’m a follower.
I was so excited to find your blog when I realized you were an author! I would love to get one of your books!
Yay! I love book giveaways, and BEING SIXTEEN sounds fabulous. I love your blog and am excited every week when it pops up in my reader.
Who doesn’t need another good book to read?
Well, here’s a follower you don’t know… I’m excited to read your new book, and can’t wait for my teen and preteen daughters to read it, too.
Here’s another follower you don’t know. I’ve been following your blog for a couple months, but not “officially.” I’ve been a fan of your books since I first read Yearbook two years ago. I was very excited to hear that Being Sixteen was coming out–I got a copy from the library yesterday and finished it this morning. I loved it; it touched me for many reasons, and I want to thank you for writing such an honest, hopeful book. I would love to win a copy to share with my two younger teenage sisters. If not, I’ll buy it to share with them. Thanks again!
I’m really excited to read this book and I am also now following your blog! Yay! I enjoy reading your books because as a fellow Young Adult writer it is amazing to see how your characters are true to their age. Thats a very talented skill and I am still working on it! (Im only 25 but sometimes it’s hard to remember what being 16 is like!) It’s hard to make a trip to the bookstore with two kids under two towing behind so I hope I get the free copy I can share and add to my library! (Haha-doesn’t everyone?)
I would love to win Being Sixteen!
I can’t wait to read your book! (Whether I win or not.)
I always look forward to reading your books!
Your posts are so fun to read Ally. I’m excited to read Being Sixteen!
ARGH!!! Can’t follow because the gadget is broken. Does this count as a follow, the desire to follow???
k – I lied…you know me! Followed!
I’d love the book! I, too, blame Erin.
Okay, once I commented, it allowed me to follow. So count me for two!
I haven’t read a fiction LDS book in ages. I can’t wait to read yours. That’s SO awesome that you have a published book.
I very much enjoyed the last book you sent so i may have to try another. If only I could listen to these books on my ipod (what a joy that has been the last month). if I can figure out how to become a follower I shall do that as well.
It wouldn’t let me leave a comment earlier, but I am determined to leave one, so here goes again…
I love all your books, and can’t wait to read this one too! I’d love to win it (and I’m already a follower, so…) Hurray for contests!
Also, I’d say you got more than just ten family and friends entering this time. Who knows, maybe it’ll get really crazy and you’ll have to send it to Idaho or somewhere REALLY far away! ha ha ha
Ally,
I was so excited when Libby said you were coming out with another book!! I ran to Deseret Book yesterday and scooped it up. I promised myself I wouldn’t start it until Saturday, since school and work don’t leave me any time for luxuries like reading during the semester. I couldn’t help it and “allowed” myself to read the first chapter as a teaser before I went to bed. That was my downfall. Once I started I couldn’t stop. I didn’t put your book down until I finished it later at 5:30AM!! It is so good!! My only dissappointment is that there weren’t any characters named after me ;P
Another fantastic book Ally. Another story well told. Another book I’m proud to add to my collection and put on my bookshelf. I can’t wait for your next adventure.
I’m excited to read the book!
I am fascinated by your day in the post below. I am also grateful that another unassuming little mom out there finds Werewolf Bar Mitzvah (sp?) as hilarious as I do. (30 Rock in general, let’s say.) Bless you for that. I break out singing it at random times quite often. I wish I could remember where it was that I heard the whole song–maybe youtube?
I held an autographed copy of yourbook today in the kitchen of one Sarah in-law. We cocked our heads in unison and envied that beautiful cursive. I may have tried to make a B like you the other day…don’t be afraid.
I’ve got four daughters and we’d love to read “Being Sixteen!”
ive been a follower for a while now – check
comment – check
Hi Ally!
I would love to win a free copy of your newest book!
AND I am now a Follower!
Have a great day!
I’m really looking forward to reading this one, and love to win a copy of it.
I signed up to follow.
Vale
Oh I love a good giveaway and I love books even more!
I love books, and free ones are the best.
I have just read the book and loved it again. Thanks!
Just making this comment because it will be the 40th! Why not?
I haven’t read this yet and can’t wait to.
Goundhog Day is a HIP Club holiday. I am the only one who remembered. I deserve a gift for remembering. I think a copy of your book would be a great gift. I can also afford to pay for it, so maybe I don’t deserve to win. I guess that means it is a wash unless I become a follower.
I am not sure how I found your blog I must admit…either through Aprilynne Pike or Janette Rallison. But I have been loyally following it ever since I found out that you landed Jodi Reamer as an agent…now I am determined to discover what makes you such a brilliant writer. I am officially a follower now, and leaving a comment…so that is two points:) I really enjoyed your post last week, sounds almost exactly like my life. I dont know if you read the article written about you a few weeks ago discussing the trend of LDS mothers of three ruling the publishing world at the moment. I thought it was a good sign for me, because I fit in that group too:) Anyway, I am from Las Vegas but I would love to come to one of your 2010 events (but I might be the one breastfeeding in the parking lot):. Thanks for the fun blog.
For some reason I thought I was a follower already only to find out I wasn’t. CRAZY
I’d love a copy of Being Sixteen, but let’s be honest, even if I don’t win, I’ll buy the book anyway. I have to keep my works by Ally Condie aka Allyson Braithwaite Condie going.
I’ll have to look into that conference….
Ally, Great to read your blog! And congrats on all your successes. I’m totally a follower and am excited to read about all your future endeavors. Can’t wait to read your new book!
I’m a follower and I’d LOVE to win a copy of your book. Thanks for the opportunity!
congrats on the newest book. i agree with Tammy i blame Erin for everything in my life. ha ha. just kidding. She has made me love reading more and i’m excited to pick up a copy of your book even if i don’t win it.
I can’t believe I missed groundhog’s day. Didn’t even remember it at all this year. Guess that’s what happens when your kids get older.
I love your books, and have shared them with many. Can’t wait for your new ones to come out.
I just finished reading your book and I want all of the women in my life to read it! I borrowed the book from my mother-in-law and I want a copy for myself, my daughters, even all my BROTHERS to read! (I have 9 of them.) I’m suggesting it to all my cousins too. Along with your Yearbook series and anything that you’ve ever wrote. Thank you for touches ALL of our emotions and senses with your writing! Now I’m excited I found your blog too
Ally, I’m Mike Walker’s wife – in case you don’t recognize the name. Anyway, I have to tell you…my youngest daughter, Dani, just turned 14. She hasn’t been much of a reader until this year. She decided to read “Yearbook” because she knew you were a relative and thought that would be cool. She was sitting on the couch and giggling and exclaimed, “I’m only on page 13 and I love it!” So, kudos to you! Thank you , thank you!
