in training
Posted by in this & thatSo I’m getting ready for the writing marathon. I am cleaning out my office/guest room/place where I throw all the clean laundry when I don’t have time to fold it/storage facility where we keep all our high school memorabilia and childhood items because our parents decided they don’t want to store it anymore and I can’t blame them.
I ordered new blinds for that room because I hate the dark blue ones from 1986 that kill the light dead before it has a chance to get inside. But I don’t think they’re going to get here in time. Rats.
I bought a lot of cinnamon bears.
I read Ann Dee’s post about how she’s going to shave her head into a fun mohawk if she doesn’t reach her low goal.
So I guess I should go on record. My goal is to write 5,000 words during the writing marathon (don’t laugh, I’m slow, and I’m also in a sticky place in my manuscript). If I reach my goal, then I am going to buy something to hang on the walls in this office/etc. Something fun. The poster seen above, for sale at etsy? I like. (This is a modification from my earlier reward, because I already treated myself to it. What can I say. I’m awesome.)
If I don’t, then I have to go through the high school memorabilia that I’ve been ignoring since we moved in.
It’s all about home improvement around here.

Great goal! I had a goal to write 6,000 words, but I just realized my husband will be gone this weekend and I’m wondering how I will have time to write even 600. And I love the sign.
I think you should get it regardless.
Oh yes, and hat tip to Julie for telling me about this fun sign! Julie, 600 words is still great!
It’s not what I want to be writing, but I WILL have my thesis written by this weekend, and when I finish, midnight truffle blizzard baby.
I’ll be right there with you for the writing marathon. I’m going to finish the revision of one of my YA novels that an editor at Deseret Book asked to see. Love the poster. I noticed you’ll be at two upcoming conferences and if I meet my goal I might sign up for one of them.
That’s great, you can do it!! I like the poster. You should buy the poster and look at it while you take Hubby to dinner at your fave restaurant and drink a mango lasso for me.
I’m definitely joining you in the marathon! 15k — I’m so terrified. I can’t remember the last time I wrote that many words of fiction in a month. My reward would be to buy 2 new hardcovers I’ve been wanting to read (instead of waiting for the library/paperback release). However, devising a punishment for failing does make it more exciting! *ponders*
Wish you luck! ^_^
Yay for cinnamon bears!
High school memorabilia…*shudder*
Ally you are so inspiring! I should be doing the challenge but I have too much planned already this weekend that I can’t postpone. Good luck! I know you can do it!
oooo I’m no good with goals. The second they are set I seem determined to fail. I normally try reverse psychology… this year my new years resolution was to eat more chocolate and get fatter… somehow I have been able to keep to that one.
Good Luck!
Way to prepare for the marathon! I especially like the cinnamon bears part as I’ve recently acquired a taste for them myself.
Thanks, everyone! It was really fun and I want to do it again soon. And Tasha, I have to say that a master’s thesis should could double. Triple. Good for you!
