bea bound and contest

Posted by ally in this & that

I’m posting a day early this week because I’m leaving for BEA tomorrow (and I always feel kind of pretend when I schedule a post in advance).

I’m so excited. I almost went to BEA two years ago, when FRESHMAN was coming out, and the publisher for that book said they’d fly me out to BEA. I was so excited. Then. My doctor said nope. I was pregnant at the time and I always deliver early and he thought it wasn’t a good idea. So I stayed home. I was fine with it. Much as I love my books, they are not my babies. And then Boy 3 arrived one month later and all was well and everything turned out just peachy.

But I do remember saying to my husband, “I am a little sad because I probably won’t ever have this chance again.”

So I’m feeling very lucky that I do have the chance, thanks to the fantastic people at Penguin.

And I’m also feeling very floored by the amount of people who entered to win the ARC of MATCHED, because at this time, two years ago, I had a contest for a giveaway of FRESHMAN and 13 people commented. And now we have 175+.

That is awesome. Wow. Now if I could just find some clothes for BEA that don’t scream “I’m a mom and I’m in over my head here in NYC!”

I will be back next week with a full BEA report and the contest winner. Thank you all for entering and for being so supportive!

I’ve just learned of BEA a few months ago, and it sounds like such a wonderful event. I do hope to be able to go, someday! (If only I could go this year, I’d be able to get an early ARC of Matched. :( )

I hope you will have a lot of fun! :)

  • I just recently learned about BEA too, and I want to go but probably won’t be able to for a while. Anyway, I hope you have lots of fun!

  • I’m sure you’ll look great, you always do. :-) Although, you can definitely take me shopping with you anytime you feel unsure of what to get. I am the “personal consultant” or whatever you want to call it to many friends and family. I think you missed (or were late) to the WG where that was talked about, many, many months ago. I should start charging for it, I think it might be a side career for me. Ha ha. ;-)

I’m sure you’ll have a great time at BEA! So fun! I hope to be able to go to it someday, too…

And congrats on such a great response to your giveaway! (although that lessons my chances of winning… darn it!) ;-)

  • I’m soooo jealous. Not only do you get to go and promote your book, but you’ll probably be walking away with a box full of ARCs too. I would love to go to BEA one day. Hopefully soon :)

    Have fun!!!

I hope you take the green bracelet. It’s class. Much like yourself.

I hope you’re having a wonderful time! I’m such a newbie I didn’t even know what BEA was *blushes* but just found out and now I’m so jealous and so excited that you are able to join in on all the fun!

I’m really looking forward to your book being released and would have loved to get my hand on an ARC but I figure there are tons of others who wish for the same!

From what I hear, there was a lot of great buzz about MATCHED at BEA last week. How great!

P.S. I gave you an award on my blog. You probably get a lot of these, but it’s there for you, if you want it:)
